Indian ISP Market Internet User Count crosses 100 crores – An Update

This note is in continuation to the blog posting of 23rd April, 2023 wherein I had shared an overview of the Indian ISP Market.
A very important milestone was crossed by the Indian ISP Industry in the quarter ending June, 2025 when the total number of Internet Users in India crossed a figure of 100 crore or 1 billion users. This is a proud moment for India and also an indicator of the many things which are going right for our country.

Future Outlook:
The growth in the number of internet subscribers is understandably plateauing out from double digit to single digit as the penetration of internet increases in India.
The growth from March, 24 to March, 25 was only 1.54% as compared to a growth of 8.3% from March, 23 to March, 24.
A silver lining is that the growth has increased to 3.48% in the first Quarter of FY2025-26.
The future outlook seems steady and the number of internet users are likely to keep increasing as the penetration of internet is spreading to the remotest parts of India. Moreover the ARPU for Internet Services is being maintained and has stopped falling and started looking up which is a healthy sign for the industry.
